North Park, Colorado rancher. Best known as a buffalo hunter. Experiences detailed in his memoir, The Buffalo Harvest. It should be noted that Mayer was known as a teller of tall tales. In a letter to the library the interviewer states that he cannot vouch for the authenticity of the stories on the tapes. Mayer died February 13, 1954, the month after the interview.
